I stopped in at Green Flash Brewing Company in San Diego, California. It’s been nearly ten years since I first stopped in here (predating this blog). It was like visiting an old friend. Great tap room vibe. I enjoyed their Soul Style IPA. Nice and citrusy. Green Flash is well known for their west coast style IPAs. I also wanted to try something different so I tried Old Sharemore Wee Heavy and enjoyed that as well. The caramel and butterscotch really come through. It is rich and malty. The food truck out front was a great source for some garlic parmesan fries that I shared with industry colleagues who were with me. Great stop and great beers.

Mamut Brewery Company, Tijuana, Mexico
I stopped in at Mamut Brewery Company in Tijuana, Mexico. Their I Feel Mosaic Hazy Pale Ale is really tasty! Hoppy and light enough to drink more than one. Finding Mamut took some help from folks on the street. The tap room is really neat and has a balcony overlooking the street and city. Awesome décor.
Norte Brewing Company, Tijuana, Mexico
I stopped in at Norte Brewing Company in Tijuana, Mexico. Fortunately I found someone on the street who was able to direct us to the location because it is difficult to find. Their 4Play Session IPA was very tasty. The views from their tasting room were remarkable. Great stop in Tijuana!
Border Psycho Brewery, Tijuana, Mexico
I stopped in at Border Psycho Brewery in Tijuana, Mexico. I enjoyed the Guera Prieta Coffee Cream Ale. Light with enough coffee flavor but not overpowering. Great stop in downtown Tijuana.
Modern Times Beer, San Diego, CA
I stopped in at Modern Times Beer in San Diego, California. Great location not far from the airport. Also on the way to my hotel. The bartender was really cool and helped me pick out a flight. Although I enjoyed all of the beers, I’m really into the Blazing World Hoppy Dank Amber. This is everything I want in a beer. Smooth, malty, almost sweet, with a hop bitterness. Delicious.
Cold Garden Beverage Company, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
I stopped in at Cold Garden Brewing Company in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and really enjoyed chatting with the bartenders, the great vibe, lots of dogs, and fabulous beer. Birthday Cake beer? Yes! Sign me up. Delicious! One of my favorite flavors – now added to beer. Vanilla Cappuccino Porter. Yes! and now time for bed. Perfect evening drink. Sweet. Smooth. Relaxing. Yum!
Citizen Brewing Company, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
I stopped in at Citizen Brewing Company in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to try their beers. Tuesday night there was live music and the small tap room was packed. I was gonna have dinner there but wound up standing – standing room only. No problem. Beer was good. Batch 1 Session Ale was really good. Crisp. Clean. Flavorful.
Last Best Brewing Company, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
I stopped in at Last Best Brewing Company in Calgary Alberta Canada. Ever since I’ve been traveling to Canada people keep telling me about poutine. Well, I finally tried it here. I enjoyed it! The bartender recommended their Baltic Porter to accompany it which was a great choice. This beer is dark and rich and heavy and sweet and a great way to end the evening. (in a good way)
Brewsters, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
I stopped in at Brewsters in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I noticed they had a Hawaiian Coconut Porter on tap. I love coconut so I tried it. And it is really good. Nice smooth malty porter with a coconut flavor. Well done.
Trolley 5 Restaurant and Brewpub, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
I stopped in at Trolley 5 Restaurant and Brewpub for dinner and a beer. How could I resist the daily special half rack of ribs for $8. And what a great choice that was. Complete with dipping sauce and pickles. Delicious. I paired dinner with Derailed Pale Ale – absolutely perfect. Great pairing. Wonderful beer. So glad I stopped!
