I stopped in at Holler Brewing Company in Houston, Texas. They have one of the nicest bartenders I’ve ever interacted with. She told me all about the brewery, gave me tastes of several beers, and ensured I had a great time. I enjoyed the taste of their IPA she gave me. Reminded me of my favorite IPA, Pliny the Elder from Russian River. I also really enjoyed their ESB. That’s a favorite style of mine but not many breweries brew it. Holler’s ESB is very good and well worth trying. I Holler for Beer at Holler Brewing Company!

Great Heights Brewing Company, Houston, TX
I stopped in at Great Heights Brewing Company in Houston, Texas. Decisions, Decisions. Their Porter was a great choice. It is cold enough outside to want to drink a slightly darker beer, heavier beer. This was perfect. Yet, not too heavy. Easy to drink and delicious. Malty, caramelly, chocolatey. And I even had the great opportunity to sit next to Santa Claus at the bar. Good times!
Platypus Brewing, Houston, TX
I stopped in at Platypus Brewing Company in Houston, Texas for dinner and a beer. Their Greens Salad, loaded, with chicken, was awesome! I had a small Troppo Australian/Mexican wheat. I seldom drink wheat beers but this came highly recommended and I tasted it first. It’s delicious with a bit of a mango flavor. I also had a small Bears, Beets, Battlestar Gallactica Table Beer which had a slight beet color, no beet taste but clearly influenced by the sweetness of the beets. These beers both paired nicely with the salad. Great food and drink and great vibe.
Sigma Brewing Company, Houston, TX
I stopped in at Sigma Brewing Company in Houston, Texas and tried their Murry Chrimmus beer. This beer is an imperial porter with cacao and cinnamon. The beer was good. I hoped for more chocolate and cinnamon flavor that wasn’t there.
Hermitage Brewing Company, San Jose, CA
I stopped in at Hermitage Brewing Company in San Jose, California. I tasted the Maltopia Scotch Ale and it finished a bit more bitter than I prefer. I also tasted the Single Hop Citra IPA which was delicious. And I ordered a 408 Session IPA that I thoroughly enjoyed. Smooth IPA with just the right bitterness. Not too much alcohol which means you could drink a few of these. Almost smooth. Very Nice!
Hapa’s Brewing Company, San Jose, Ca
I stopped in at Hapa’s Brewing Company in San Jose, California, and at the recommendation of the bartender I enjoyed their The Cannery Kolsch. Great choice. This is a fabulous, clean, well-balanced beer. Light maltiness and light bitterness. Very drinkable and enjoyable.
Uproar Brewing Company, San Jose, Ca
I stopped in at Uproar Brewing Company in San Jose, California. I asked the bartender for a taste of one of their beers and he told me they do not provide tastes. The beer I eventually ordered I did not enjoy. I’ve been to over 500 breweries and this was the first time I’ve not been able to try a beer before ordering it. I did enjoy their pumpkin salad, though.
Santa Clara Valley Brewing, Santa Clara, CA
I stopped in at Santa Clara Valley Brewing in Santa Clara, California and enjoyed their New Almaden Red Imperial Red Ale. This is a strong smooth red ale. Deceivingly strong and deceivingly smooth. Very nice beer. Easy to drink. Its malty and delicious.
Golden State Brewery, Santa Clara, CA
I stopped in at Golden State Brewery in Santa Clara, California for a beer. Surveying the alternatives I settled on their Cranberry Ale which did not disappoint. From Thanksgiving to Christmas you jus can’t get enough cranberry. This is a tasty sour with lots of flavor, delicious to drink, and easy to drink several. Great beer!
