East End Brewing Company, Pittsburgh, PA

I returned to East End Brewing Company in Pittsburgh, PA.  With the way the laws are in PA the folks at East End can give samples, which I enjoyed thoroughly, but currently can’t sell pints.  They do sell growlers and mini growlers plus they have 22oz. bombers of a few varieties.  Their beers are wonderful and I highly recommend a stop at their brewery whenever you are in Pittsburgh.

I stopped in at the East End Brewing Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a Big Hop IPA which was hoppy but balanced with with malt not to be too bitter.  I also tasted the ginger ale and root beer.  That’s right, ginger ale and root beer.  And, they were both very tasty!  My greatest regret was that I didn’t have an opportunity to stop in and pick up a growler before heading home.  Oh, and I also enjoyed a cup of coffee from Commonplace Coffee Company which was located in the same industrial space as East End Brewing Company.  I did pick up a pound of coffee to bring back for one of my over-worked co-workers.

I stopped in at the Hitchhiker Brewing Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and tasted the Roadie IPA which I really enjoyed.  It was well balanced with the hops and malt.  Not too hoppy.  Very drinkable.  I also tried the seasonal Festbier.  The Drifter #004 Keystone Common does taste a good bit like Anchor Steam.  Finally, the Tumbleweed brown ale was absolutely delicious.  I would have like to have brought home a growler of this.  I’ll definitely be looking forward to stopping in again the next time I am in Pittsburgh.

I stopped in at Rivertowne Brewing Pour House in Monroeville, Pennsylvania for lunch and tasted one of their beers.  The buffalo chicken salad was spicy and tasty.  And, like all Pittsburgh salads included fries :).  I was surprised by the Hala Kahiki pineapple ale.  Unlike the bitter IPA’s i typically enjoy, this was a very sweet pineapple flavored beer.  I really enjoyed it.  This would make an outstanding summer beer.

I returned to The Church Brew Works in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for dinner.  I enjoyed a great chicken sandwich with the Pious Monk Dunkel.  This turned out to be a great pairing.  The beer is a full-bodied lager and very enjoyable with a meal.  I also had a taste of the Bourbon Barrel aged Coconut Stout for something sweet to finish the meal.  Another great time at The Church Brew Works.  Plus, I had the same bartender as my last visit.  He’s great, knows the beers, and provides a wonderful experience.

I stopped in at The Church Brew Works in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for dinner and a beer.  For dinner I enjoyed the Pittsburgh Pierogie Pizza with a Thunder Hop IPA.  Both the pizza and the beer were delicious and I’m looking forward to stopping in again the next time I visit Pittsburgh.
