I stopped in at Daredevil Brewing Company in Indianapolis, Indiana on my way from the airport to downtown. The Lift Off IPA is one of the best, maybe the best IPA I’ve ever tasted. Very drinkable. Enough hops to be hoppy but not too hoppy. Delicious. I also enjoyed a taste of the JWP American Stout. Rich. Creamy. Smooth. The taproom is a great spot to hang out. I look forward to stopping in again.
Indianapolis
Indiana City Brewing Company, Indianapolis, IN
I stopped in at the Indiana City Brewing Company in Indianapolis, Indiana and enjoyed the shadow boxer oatmeal stout which is a very rich and flavorful beer. Delicious. The tap room is a really cool re-purposed industrial space.
Fountain Square Brewing Company, Indianapolis, IN
I stopped in at Fountain Square Brewing Company in Indianapolis, Indiana and enjoyed the Soul Ride IPA which was rich and hoppy. The brewery is in an old industrial/warehouse-like space. Unlike many places where I stop, they had small bags of pretzels available for customers to enjoy on the house. Very cool place.
Black Acre Brewing Company, Indianapolis, IN
I stopped in at the Black Acre Brewing Company in Indianapolis, Indiana and immediately liked the cool feel of the tap room. The rich wood made it feel warm and enjoyable. Check out the pictures. When it came to trying a beer the Saucy Intruder Rye IPA was suggested and it did not disappoint. It was both hoppy and spicy.
Broad Ripple Brewpub, Indianapolis, IN
I really enjoyed stopping in at the Broad Ripple Brewpub in Indianapolis, Indiana. The atmosphere feels like an authentic English pub which I tried to capture in the photos. It felt really cozy and I was wishing I had been there with friends. When it was time to select a beer to try, I chose the Black Eye P. A. which the bartender recommended. What an excellent choice. This was a delightful combination of hoppiness and rich roasted maltiness. Excellent beer.
Sun King Brewery, Indianapolis, IN
I stopped in at Sun King Brewery again this week and Wee Mac Scottish Ale is every bit as good as it was the last time I visited. Great beer.

I stopped in at Sun King Brewery in Indianapolis, Indiana and found that they offer free tastings on weekend days – yay! Of the varieties I tasted, the Wee Mac Scottish Ale was my favorite. It was malty and delicious. The Popcorn Pilsner was delicious as well. Light and refreshing. Their other beers were very good as well. During the tasting time the brewery had plenty of staff on hand to make it an enjoyable time for everyone. I was also impressed with the cool artwork inside. See below. If you’re in Indianapolis I definitely recommend checking out this brewery.
Flat 12 Bierworks, Indianapolis, IN
I stopped in at the Flat 12 Bierworks in Indianapolis, Indiana and enjoyed the Cucumber Kolsch which was deliciously light and refreshing. Neither cucumbers nor kolsch are my favorites, but put together this was a really delicious refreshing summer beer. Flat 12 Bierworks has a great tap room plus a large outside seating area. A great spot to stop and enjoy a good beer. The fire pit outside is really cool. Check out the picture below.
They have an extensive line-up of beers. See below. Plus I learned that Jesus loves porter.
Bier Brewery, Indianapolis, IN
I stopped in at Bier Brewery in Indianapolis, Indiana and was greeted by the most helpful bartenders I’ve ever met. They insisted I try all nine beers on tap. Fortunately it was just a small taste of each or I would have been in real trouble. I settled on the Rye IPA which was both hoppy and spicy. A truly delicious beer.
Triton Brewing Company, Indianapolis, IN
I stopped in at the Triton Brewing Company in Indianapolis, Indiana and only had time to taste the Magnificent Amber which I found to be a beautiful copper color with a rich malty and caramelly flavor but it had a bit too much hoppy bitterness for my taste in an amber ale. One thing I found really cool was that they were growing hop plants alongside of the brewery – see picture below.
Scotty’s Brewhouse, Indianapolis, IN
I stopped for lunch at Scotty’s Brewhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Buffalo Breath Chicken Salad was really good. The chicken was lightly breaded yet very spicy – pow! The salad was a very filling portion. I tasted the Centennial Martyr Double IPA which was really delicious – rich and tasty. So, technically the beers are from Thr3e Wise Men and Scotty’s Brewhouse is all part of the same larger company. While I was there, the manager, Dave, stopped by and chatted a bit about the local beer scene which was great fun.
