I stopped in at Pinglehead Brewing Company in Orange Park, Florida. Their signature Pinglehead – Imperial Red Ale – is outstanding. I had already eaten dinner or I would have tried one of the Brewers Pizza pies. They looked delicious.
Engine 15 Brewing Company, Jacksonville Beach, FL
I stopped in at Engine 15 Brewing Company in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. One of the flagship beers is Nut Sack Brown Ale which I couldn’t resist trying. What a treat! This is a smooth, nutty, brown ale. Full of malty sweetness. This beer is easy to drink. I enjoyed it so much I purchased a bomber bottle to bring home and share with my friends and family.
Zeta Brewing Company, Jacksonville Beach, FL
I stopped in at Zeta Brewing Company in Jacksonville Beach, Florida and enjoyed the Ruby Beach Raspberry Wheat. It’s a tasty wheat beer with enough raspberry for flavor but not overpowering. They had live music Sunday evening when I stopped in. Wonderful experience.
Green Room Brewing, Jacksonville Beach, FL
I stopped in at Green Room Brewing in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Each beer in the flight I enjoyed was delicious. I enjoyed Double Dry Hopped Pablo Beach which sounds like a hop-bomb but is actually a very nicely balanced pale ale with hop character; also Tsunami which is a very nice saison with peppercorn accents; and Barista Volcanista a stout with many complex flavors going on; and my clear favorite was Key Lime Berliner, a sour Weiss beer which tasted like a slice of key lime pie – delicious. The Key Lime Berliner alone is worth stopping for.
Dewey Beer Company, Dewey Beach, DE
I stopped in at Dewey Beer Company in Dewey Beach, Delaware. Dinner was great – a delicious local crab cake sandwich. The plaintain nachos were also delicious with chorizo as an appetizer. When I asked for a flight little did I know that I was getting EIGHT beers. Wow. I couldn’t begin to comment on them all. Let me start by saying the Summer Ale was absolutely delicious – a light grapefruity summer beer. The pale ale and IPA were also very good. The saison was wonderful. and after that I think I lost track of my tastebuds, memory and other senses. In all I had a great meal and experience at the Dewey Beer Company. Stop in if you have a chance.
Dogfish Head Brewings and Eats, Rehoboth Beach, DE
I stopped in at Dogfish Head Brewings and Eats in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Wow. I enjoyed visiting the original brewpub of this now dominant craft brewery. Since Dogfish Head also has a brewpub in my hometown of Gaithersburg, Maryland I tend to consider this my home brewery and go to brand. I sat on the outdoor patio with my family for lunch. We all had great meals. My fish tacos were delicious. With 120 Minute IPA on tap how could I resist? And as always it did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious. This is very strong – clocking in at over 15 ABV, so beware! I also purchased a four-pack to take home and at $36 that’s not an insignificant decision. But I can assure you it will be well worth every $9 bottle. I also gave a try to the Palo Ahumado which was a delicious brown ale with notes of vanilla and coconut. My wife even enjoyed a few sips which is very rare. And, before we left for home we purchased t-shirts and other swag to memorialize the visit. Hope to return here again one of these days.
Lakefront Brewery, Milwaukee, WI
I stopped in at Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a quick beer. First, the brewery is a really great place. I wish I had the chance to take the tour but time did not permit. They serve traditional beer hall food at the brewery which pairs so well with the beer. The brew I tried was the New Grist Ginger Style Ale. I love ginger and this beer did not disappoint. Spicy and delicious. I’m glad I stopped in!
Hinterland, Milwaukee, WI
I stopped in at Hinterland Erie Street Gastropub in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for dinner and a beer. The group I was with turned the appetizer menu into a sampler and enjoyed so many menu items – they were all delicious! I think we tried them all. I enjoyed the Bourbon Barrel Doppelbock. What a rich beer. This is something to sip and enjoy just like a fine bourbon, whiskey or scotch. Very complex. Malty and sweet. But with a deep rich flavor, Outstanding evening of food and drink.
Milwaukee Ale House, Milwaukee, WI
I stopped in at the Milwaukee Ale House in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for dinner and a beer. I had the pretzels and Hawaiian pizza. The pretzels and beer cheese were delicious. They came out hot! The Milwaukee Ale House take on Hawaiian pizza includes pepperoni and jalapeno peppers – a delicious twist from the norm. I also enjoyed the Polish Moon milk stout. Most folks probably wouldn’t have paired that but when I saw the label I had to try it and it was rich and delicious.
Horny Goat Brewing Company, Milwaukee, WI
I stopped in at Horny Goat Brewing Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for lunch and a beer. The fried pickles and the tacos (chicken and brisket) were outstanding. I tried a sampler of their beers which showed great range in brewing and all were solid. Although not a big wheat beer drinker, the Hometown Wheat was very tasty. It had a lot more flavor than most wheat beers. I’m a fan. But I’m no Horny Goat.
