I stopped in at St. Joseph Brewery & Public House in Indianapolis, Indiana for dinner and a beer.  I tasted the Benevolent Belgian Blond and the Pew Buster Double IPA but I stayed with the Confessional IPA to enjoy with dinner which was the Claus’ German Sausage Sampler.  The two beers I tasted were great, but the IPA was outstanding.  And that name, Confessional IPA.  Of course, the brewery and restaurant are located in a former church building.  It is pretty cool to be sitting inside the building having a meal and a beer.  I highly recommend the food and beer.

Last night I walked from Indianapolis City Center to Two DEEP Brewing Company.  The walk put me over 10,000 steps for the day and enabled me to enjoy two great beers.  KnightStick Cream Ale is a solid, drinkable beer.  It is on the lighter side which makes it easy to drink.  Sitting back watching the game, it was a great beer to enjoy.  The beer that got me really enthusiastic was They’ve Gone to PLAID! Scotch Ale!  Sweet and malty and caramel, this is one tasty beer.  I’d make the walk here again to enjoy this beer again.  You’ve got to try it.

I stopped in at Daredevil Brewing Company in Indianapolis, Indiana on my way from the airport to downtown.  The Lift Off IPA is one of the best, maybe the best IPA I’ve ever tasted.  Very drinkable.  Enough hops to be hoppy but not too hoppy.  Delicious.  I also enjoyed a taste of the JWP American Stout.  Rich.  Creamy.  Smooth.  The taproom is a great spot to hang out.  I look forward to stopping in again.

I stopped in at Southerleigh Fine Food and Brewery in San Antonio, Texas to taste their beers.  I tried a flight and each was very good.  The Dark Sky Dark Lager was rich and malty, the Straight Outta Hopton Imperial IPA was strong and smooth, the 2 Coast IPL – India Pale Lager was hoppy and citrusy just the way I like it, and I think my favorite was the Heyyyy Joe Coffee IPA.  I’ve never had a coffee IPA before and this was a treat.  Notes of both coffee flavor and hops.  Typically coffee is brewed in stouts and porters.  This really switched it up for me and was delicious.  Hope to stop back for one more before leaving San Antonio.  I’d encourage anyone to stop in for this beer alone.  The other beers were delicious as well.  I did not have a chance to try their food but the menu looked awesome as well.

Twin Peaks Restaurant and Brewery, San Antonio, TX

I stopped in at Twin Peaks Restaurant and Brewery in San Antonio, Texas for a quick bite and a beer.  On the server’s recommendation I tried the Dirty Blonde American White Ale.  Twin Peaks boasts of the temperature they serve their beer.  Very cold.  I have often heard serving beer very cold disguises the taste.  Well, although I’ve never said anything bad about a beer to date on my blog, let me just say this beer was not my favorite.  I did not finish it.  It was very cold and refreshing to some extent, though.  The quesadilla I ordered was good.

I stopped in at Intuition Ale Works in Jacksonville, Florida and enjoyed Tall, Dark + Cherry.  I was hoping for more cherry flavor, but it did deliver as a chocolate stout with hint of cherry.  Of course, you wouldn’t want the cherry to be overpowering any way.

I’ll also mention that several years ago while on business in Jacksonville I had the opportunity to stop by and was given a private tour by the owner which was totally cool.

I stopped in at Aardwolf Brewing Company in Jacksonville, Florida.  I sampled a few of their beers.  The Bees?! Saison is very good.  The Belgian Pale Ale is very good.  The San Marco Sour is very good if you like sour style beers.  And, my favorite of the evening was Ermah Gourd the Pumpkin Ale – it had enough pumpkin flavor to be a pumpkin ale but not too much to be overpowering.  Great balance.  Great beers.  I enjoyed them all so much that I bought a sweatshirt to bring home with me.
