I stopped for lunch at Scotty’s Brewhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The Buffalo Breath Chicken Salad was really good.  The chicken was lightly breaded yet very spicy – pow!  The salad was a very filling portion.  I tasted the Centennial Martyr Double IPA which was really delicious – rich and tasty.  So, technically the beers are from Thr3e Wise Men and Scotty’s Brewhouse is all part of the same larger company.  While I was there, the manager, Dave, stopped by and chatted a bit about the local beer scene which was great fun.

It’s very rare that I stop in anywhere twice.  There are just so many places to experience that I’m almost always off to see some place new.  Well, I broke my habit and stopped at Tow Yard Brewing Company in Indianapolis, Indiana twice.

I stopped late last night and enjoyed a Randy SMaSH (Singe Malt and Single Hop) which was a really tasty beer.  Not too hoppy and not too malty.  It was juuust riiight!

And I liked Tow Yard Brewing Company so much that I walked a mile today to have lunch there at The Larder where I enjoyed a Big Fat Greek Salad.  This was truly a delicious salad.  I also tried the Red Cream soda and the Ginger Beer soda – just samples – and they were both delicious.

Tow Yard Brewing Company is an excellent craft brewery and also has an excellent restaurant.   The atmosphere is wonderful and would be delightful for the happy hour crowd and a family having a meal with kids.  Plus, the kiddos will love the natural sugar sodas.  The areas are separated and provide the perfect location for a variety of people.  They also have outdoor seating.

After lunch today, before I headed out, one of the owners, Jim, approached me and asked me how I heard about the place.  We had a nice conversation and he is a great guy.  It’s clear that he and his team are really putting their heart and soul into Tow Yard Brewing Company.

If you’re in Indianapolis you need to check out Tow Yard Brewing Company.

Update – I went back for lunch again and enjoyed the Gatsby sandwich and a Hook-Up Shandler.  The sandwich was delicious.  And the Hook-Up Shandler is a mix of Goldie Hops beer and Citrus soda – very light and refreshing!

I stopped at Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Company in Indianapolis, Indiana for dinner.  I enjoyed the Tableside Tossed Chop Chop Salad for dinner.  Delicious.  I also tasted a few beers.  I tried the Two Lucy’s Blackberry Wheat which was a bready wheat beer with a blackberry flavor.  I also tried the Hubbard & Cravens Porter.  This was a delicious, rich. malty and chocolaty beer.  This would be a great dessert beer.  And I tried the Golden Zoe IPA which was a complex hoppy beer with several types of hops used in the brewing.

I stopped in at the Oaken Barrel Brewing Company in Greenwood, Indiana for lunch.  I enjoyed the Three Amigo Taco Salad.  Just enough shredded iceberg lettuce to make me feel like it was healthy and just enough tortilla chips to make me feel like I’m enjoying nachos.  Yum.  I tried a few beers with lunch.  The Razz Wheat was light and refreshing and although it had a raspberry flavor it wasn’t too strong.  I also tried the Gnaw Bone Pale Ale which was hoppy enough for my IPA tastebuds.  I really enjoyed this beer.  And I tried the Indiana Amber which must be the best amber ale I’ve tasted.  This was delicious, full bodied and malty.  Maybe its the Indiana grain.  Very nice.  I love their motto “We Brew It.  We Drink It.  We Sell What’s Left.”
