I stopped in at the Hitchhiker Brewing Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and tasted the Roadie IPA which I really enjoyed.  It was well balanced with the hops and malt.  Not too hoppy.  Very drinkable.  I also tried the seasonal Festbier.  The Drifter #004 Keystone Common does taste a good bit like Anchor Steam.  Finally, the Tumbleweed brown ale was absolutely delicious.  I would have like to have brought home a growler of this.  I’ll definitely be looking forward to stopping in again the next time I am in Pittsburgh.

I stopped in at Rivertowne Brewing Pour House in Monroeville, Pennsylvania for lunch and tasted one of their beers.  The buffalo chicken salad was spicy and tasty.  And, like all Pittsburgh salads included fries :).  I was surprised by the Hala Kahiki pineapple ale.  Unlike the bitter IPA’s i typically enjoy, this was a very sweet pineapple flavored beer.  I really enjoyed it.  This would make an outstanding summer beer.

I returned to The Church Brew Works in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for dinner.  I enjoyed a great chicken sandwich with the Pious Monk Dunkel.  This turned out to be a great pairing.  The beer is a full-bodied lager and very enjoyable with a meal.  I also had a taste of the Bourbon Barrel aged Coconut Stout for something sweet to finish the meal.  Another great time at The Church Brew Works.  Plus, I had the same bartender as my last visit.  He’s great, knows the beers, and provides a wonderful experience.

Spring House Brewing Company, Lancaster, PA

I stopped at the Spring House Brewing Company in Lancaster, PA for lunch with my brother.  We had a great time.  He enjoyed the BLT and I enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken Salad.  I tried a flight of their beers which were all enjoyable.  Notable were Beyond the Gates Double IPA which was a very flavorful IPA and Big Gruesome Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout which is just what it says.  I felt like a kid again.  Who would have thought of peanut butter in beer?  It works.

Victory Brewing Company, Downingtown, PA

OK, so I celebrated my 50th birthday at Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown, Pennsylvania with my with and her sister and husband.  And it was one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had.  We enjoyed dinner in the brewpub along with a flight of beers.  It’s been a while since then and I forget many of the beers I enjoyed but one that stands out is the Hop Devil IPA.  This is one of my favorite IPA’s.
