City Acre Brewing Company, Houston, TX

I stopped in at City Acre Brewing Company in Houston, Texas for a late bite to eat and a beer.  Their TXPA Pale Ale is delicious.  I rarely do this but I’ll make a comparison.  It’s not as hoppy as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, which I enjoy, but is very flavorful, citrusy, and drinkable.  I really enjoyed it.  And, it paired wonderfully with Rick’s Rolls – pork barbecue and cole slaw egg rolls.  And the cabbage slaw that came with it was also awesome.  I also tried the Bellington Imperial Red.  Where was that back in MD on St. Patrick’s Day?  If you’re in Houston please do stop in at City Acre.  Great indoor/outdoor vibe.  Owner and brewmaster Matt was pouring last night.  He’s an awesome guy to chat with.  Very helpful and engaging.  He’s doing an awesome job.  Stop in and support him.

I stopped in at Clocktower Brew Pub in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada for a snack and a beer.  The pretzel appetizer was tasty.  I enjoyed the Wisharts ESB and tasted the Clocktower Red.  The ESB is a solid example of the ESB style.  Smooth and very drinkable.  The Red was complex.  A variety of hops and other seasonings make this a very enjoyable beer.  I’m hoping to stop back at Clocktower for another Red before I leave town.  I also need to grab a few coasters for my collection.

I stopped in at New Albanian Brewing Company in New Albany, Indiana and enjoyed a 6″ personal pizza for dinner with the Elector Imperial Red Ale.  WOW!  The pizza was great and the personal size serving was perfect.  The beer was wonderful and went well with the pizza.  It is a solid mix of malt and hops with both a sweetness and a bitterness.  I can’t wait to stop back again.

I stopped in at the Core Brewing Company in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  I tasted the Imperial Red which is the first Imperial Red Ale I’ve ever had.  Wow, does this pack a punch and it sure is tasty.  I also tried the Leg Hound which was a really smooth amber/brown ale.  Both were very enjoyable.  This brewery was one of my stops on the Fayetteville Ale Trail which I highly recommend for those who love craft beer and are in the Fayetteville area.
