Blue Blaze Brewing Company, Charlotte, NC

I stopped in at Blue Blaze Brewing Company in Charlotte, North Carolina for a beer.  I tried the Blue Blaze Altbier which was really crisp and refreshing.  The bartender pointed out that #NPS100 Irish Red Ale had just been tapped today so I gave that a try and decided to go with a full pour.  It was a malty and hoppy delicious beer.  Full of flavor and body.  I tried a sample of the Scotch Ale and enjoyed it but felt it tasted a bit boozy for my taste.

I met some guys at the bar who were also brewery visitors.  They were pumped at having visited 300 breweries.  Which is quite an accomplishment.  When I told them I’d been to over 500 I’m not sure if they believed me or not.  But we had a good time talking about several brewery favorites we had visited.

Legion Brewing, Charlotte, NC

I stopped in  at Legion Brewing in Charlotte, North Carolina and enjoyed their Juicy Jay East Coast IPA.  Although I’ve backed off from IPAs to some extent, when I asked the bartender what the most popular beer was, I took their recommendation and tried the Juicy Jay.  I really enjoyed this beer.  I love a grapefruit-flavored IPA.  This IPA was full of citrus flavor, including grapefruit.  Very hoppy.  Tropical.

It was open mic night when I stopped in and I enjoyed several musicians while enjoying my beer.  A great relaxing evening.

Thirsty Nomad Brewing Company, Charlotte, NC

I stopped in at Thirsty Nomad Brewing Company in Charlotte, North Carolina and enjoyed a Sweeney English Brown Porter.  What a treat.  Smooth.  Malty.  Dark.  Rich.  I’d call it chocolatey.  This would be a delightful after dinner beer.

The tap room is a delightful place with remnants of an English pub.  Bartender and staff were very kind and helpful.  And, I found the bullshit corner –

I stopped in at Lenny Boy Brewing Company in Charlotte, North Carolina and tried both the beer and the kombucha.  I enjoyed the Mirage Belgian Tripel and also the Tart De La Wit Sour Beer.  Both of these were fine beers.  I recommend them both.  A great example of a Belgian Tripel and a refreshing sour beer.  Kombucha is a non-alcoholic fermented beverage that’s high in B-vitamins, probiotics, and amino acids.  I really enjoyed the Good Ol Ginger made with real ginger.  Both tart and sweet.  Lenny Boy Brewing Company is a great place to stop in Charlotte.

I stopped in at Sycamore Brewing in Charlotte, North Carolina for a sandwich and a beer.  The pressed focaccia cheddar grilled cheese sandwich was delicious.  And the Serendipity Vanilla session ale I enjoyed with it was also delicious.  I highly recommend the food and the beer.  I also tried the bourbon barrel aged huckleberry pie brown ale.  Also delicious.  I highly recommend Sycamore Brewing to everyone in Charlotte and hope I have the chance to return.

I stopped in at the Birdsong Brewing Company in Charlotte, North Carolina and experienced the Jalapeno Pale Ale which was unique, spicy, and refreshing.  I would highly recommend this beer to anyone who enjoys jalapeno flavor.  And, it’s not hot!  I also enjoyed the ample supply of peanuts in the shell to enjoy with the beer.  I highly recommend Birdsong for a beer when in Charlotte, NC.

I stopped in at NoDa Brewing Company in Charlotte, North Carolina and enjoyed some beer and a tour.  The Salted Caramel Stout was smooth and sweet.  And the Sucette A L’abricot was light and refreshing.  Also, the Experimental Hop Project was a great citrusy hop forward selection.  I greatly enjoyed all of the selections I tried.  The tour was delightful and offered a walk-through of the brewery including a discussion of each brewing process along the way.
