I stopped in at Kindred Brewing near Columbus, Ohio for a beer. Hawaiian Shirt looked really good. The fruit flavors were very subtle. Provisional sour brown ale is delicious. Sour and a distinct cherry flavor. Wolf’s Ridge Night Method Espresso Milk Stout is rich, coffee flavor, chocolate notes, delicious. This was the perfect way to end the evening.
Who’d have thought? A brewery in a Whole Foods Market? Revolutionary!
I stopped in at Whole Foods Market Brewing Company in Houston, Texas and, of course, I had to try the TX Grapefruit Blonde Ale. What a delight to drink this light, effervescent, slightly grapefruit flavored beer.
I stopped in at Beach Haus Brewery in Belmar, New Jersey. For being a beach brewery they have a real breadth of beer styles including “darker, heavier” styles I would most commonly associate with winter and cold weather. And, these styles are available year round. Parade Day Irish Coffee Stout is a delicious coffee stout. I was very impressed with the easy-drinking Grapefruit Radler. The Strawberry Radler was tasty but felt more like a wine cooler. The beer I enjoyed the most, and perhaps their best beer, was the High Side Blonde Ale. It was fresh, complex, easy drinking and delicious. I liked it so much that I bought a six-pack to bring home to enjoy later.
I stopped in at 7 Hills Brewing Company in Richmond, Virginia. The bartender recommended the Chicken Club Sandwich which was delicious! He also recommended the Belle Isle Blonde Ale which paired perfectly. The beer was light and smooth, very easy to drink, and did not overpower the chicken sandwich. A perfect way to end the evening.
I stopped in at The Waterfront Brewery in Key West, Florida. I tried the Key Lime Witness and really wanted to enjoy it. Clearly it has notes of key lime but I really wanted more. It also has other spices including pepper which added to the complexity of the beer but took away from my enjoyment of it. Not every beer is for every palate. I did enjoy the Crazy Lady Honey Blonde which was a very enjoyable blonde ale with sweetness of local honey. I also really enjoyed the Waterfront Brewery setting along the harbor walk in Key West. Great stop!
